Herbal Medicine and Herbs
Herbal medicine, also known as botanical medicine, or
phytotherapy, is based on a combination of traditional
knowledge, clinical experience, an understanding of
medical sciences and scientific evidence.  It refers to the use of
any plant's seeds, berries, roots, leaves, bark or flowers to prevent
and treat ill health.  Herbal remedies are produced by either taking
the whole plant or just the part of the plant required and often
mixing it with other plants. The plant material is combined with
various extractions to formulate: herbal teas; decoctions; syrups;
tinctures; infused oils; tablets; capsules; powders; salves and
ointment or creams.
Herbal medicine is a very effective form of treatment but it is
important to understand that it works in a more subtle way to
pharmacy medication.  It seeks to resolve the true nature of ‘dis-
harmony’ and ‘dis-ease’ in the Body. It is important to be aware
that the process can have immediate effect, but also that it can
take time. Remember the process of ‘dis-ease’ can and often has
been in manifestation for quite a period of time so it may take a
while before you can return the Body to ‘ease’.  Herbal Medicine
doesn’t look to suppress symptoms but seeks to clear, eliminate,
eradicate the underlying nature of ‘dis-ease’.
Herb of the Month
Concerning all acts of
initiative and creation,
there is one elementary
rule…
that the moment one
definitely commits oneself,
then Providence moves
too.
All sorts of things occur to
help one that would never
otherwise have occurred…
Boldness has genius,
power, and magic in it.
Begin it now.
